There are many reasons for joining the Friends of the IO. Here are some of them:

- 10% discount on tickets for IO opera productions.*
- 15% discount on tickets for opera concerts and smaller-scale IO productions. 
 - 25% discount on tickets to the IO’s lunchtime concerts.
- 10% discount on fees for opera courses held by the Friends and the University of Iceland’s Institute of Continuing Education.
- 15% discount on CDs, DVDs and videos at 12 Tónar, Skólavörðustígur 15.
- 12 Tónar also has special offers on certain items for Friends, with discounts of at least 20%. These will be advertised on the IO website and mailing list.
- 15% discount on classical music (CDs, DVDs and videos) from Skífan, Laugavegur 26.
- Skífan also grants Friends a 20% discount on selected opera recordings during the periods when they are running at the IO.  These will be advertised on the IO website and mailing list.
- And on top of all this, Friends’ membership includes your annual subscription to the IO magazine, Óperublaðið.

* NB: Discounts are not available for first performances.

The annual membership fee is ISK 3,500 (minimum); Friends are welcome to pay more, so giving extra support to the IO, according to their motivation and means. Payment can be made either by credit card (Visa / MasterCard) or by Giro.
